Τα νέα της ημέρας ειναι οτι η Elrog ανακοίνωσε insolvency, κοινός φαλίρισε..

Τα ευχάριστα νεα ειναι οτι βρέθηκε νεος επενδυτής ο οποιος ακούει στο ονομα Thomas Mayer, o γνωστος Vinyl Savor για οσους ασχολούνται με σχεδιασμό και κατασκευη ενισχυτών λυχνίας.

It has been a bit quiet about Elrog during the recent months and I would like to give an update about the state of the company and the future. I have some bad and some good news. The bad news is that due to various reasons Elrog struggled financially and was forced to enter the insolvency process. The good news is that Elrog tubes will continue to be produced. I founded a new company which acquired all assets and machines of Elrog. This company will continue the manufacturing and distribution of Elrog branded tubes.

Ο Thomas ειναι φίλος και εξαιρετικό παιδι, απο τις πιο ευχάριστες συναντήσεις καθε χρόνο στην έκθεση του Μονάχου. Κατεβαίνει σταθερά με τον von Langa και παίζουν αποκλειστικά και μονο με πικαπ (πως να μην τον συμπαθείς?). Το σημαντικό ειναι οτι αποτελεί εξαιρετικό σχεδιαστή και αγαπάει τις λυχνίες οποτε το μελλον της Elrog δείχνει εξασφαλισμένο. Οι τιμες φοβαμαι οτι θα μείνουν σε πολυ υψηλά επίπεδα, κατι αναμενόμενο βέβαια γιατι μιλάμε για χειροποίητες Γερμανικές λυχνίες.

"Ψαγμενη" η Elrog, δεν την ηξερα.

H πιο σοβαρη εναλλακτική σε 300Β πρεπει να ειναι η Ιαπωνική Takatsuki. Αρκετά τσιμπημένη σε τιμη (2000$ το ζευγος), εχει λαβει διθυράμβους απο πολλους έγκριτους δημοσιογράφους και χρηστες.

I think the 1-year warranty on the Sophia ELectric Royal Princess may make up for the gap. But while I do really like the full-frequency performance of the Royal, boy-howdy, that Takatsuki was stunning. If you’re into jazz, female vocals, and small arrangement pieces — otherwise known as the “audiophile audio diet” — to the exclusion of everything else, this tube is a show stopper.

In my particular situation, having both Takatsuki TA-300B and the Western Electric 300B, the type of music to which I am listening dictates which set of tubes go in the Kegons. For classical and jazz, I find that I prefer the Western Electric tubes in my system, but for rock, the Takatsuki’s edge out the Western Electric’s. Both are excellent, and in a different amplifier or for someone with somewhat different tastes, this might be the ticket. The Takatsuki’s are the only tube which I would consider using in place of the Western Electric 300B.

Αν κρίνουμε απο τα συμφραζόμενα, η Takatsuki πρεπει να πεφτει ανάμεσα στην κλασσική Western Electric 300B (ξεκάθαρα μεσαιατη) και την Elrog (πιο σωστή στα άκρα).

Στο παλιό εργοστάσιο της Tesla στην Σλοβακια στήθηκε μια εξ' αρχής παράγωγη λυχνιών (και ενισχυτικών, πυκνωτών) με πολυ καλο λόγο τιμης προς ποιοτητα. H JJ ειναι εξαιρετικη περιπτωση για οποιον θελει να αποφυγει τις κινέζικες λυχνίες και να μεινει σε χαμηλες τιμες, αποτελεσε και την επιλογη μου σε 300Β οταν φτιάξαμε τον δικο μας DIY ενισχυτή σε ταξη Α (με οδήγηση 6SN7GT απο Sylvania/ Ken Rad).



Ηχητικά οι JJ 300Β ειναι σωστές, χωρις ιδιαίτερους χρωματισμούς στις μεσαίες (κατι που μπορεί να αρεσει, μπορεί και οχι) ενω το failure rate ειναι μάλλον χαμηλό, ειδικά για την τιμή (λίγο πανω απο τα 100ευρω/ λυχνία).

To εργοστάσιο κανει αμεσες αποστολές σε ολη την Ευρωπη με 9.90 ευρω, ενω προσφέρει και ματσαρισμενες λυχνίες. Η γκαμα παραγωγης ειναι πολυ μεγαλη με πανω απο 15 διαφορετικες λυχνιες, οδηγήτριες, εξόδου και ανόρθωσης.

Ενδιαφέρουσα πρόταση ειναι και αυτη της Emission Labs, η οποια κατασκευάζει και λυχνιες με τροποποιημένες προδιαγραφές σε σχεση με τις αρχικες. Χαρακτηριστικό παράδειγμα η 300Β XLS με 40Watt μέγιστο dissipation. Σαν λυχνία και λογω των χαρακτηριστικών της, εχει ισως το κορυφαίο χαμηλο ανάμεσα στις 300Β και γενικά "ροκαρει"

For use in Single Ended amplifiers, the 300B-XLS is the best choice, since with those amplifiers good sound is coming from the right use of the tube, not over stressing the tube. The right use means, the tube should not be working at it's maximum electrical performance. Here we think the 300B-XLS is at it's right place, taking advantage of the higher electrical reserve this tube has. The 300B-XLS will reproduce the required loudness with more ease than the standard 300B. The result is a more transparent sound picture at low or medium volume, while at higher volume, the dynamics of the original recording will stay unaffected.

Another purpose of the EML 300B-XLS is to get more power, than is possible with standard 300B tubes. This can only be done when you have the possibility to adjust the settings of the amplifier. If you increase the plate current of the tube ABOVE the standard 300B specifications, something very special will happen. The tube will now move to a part of the curves where it has a lower plate resistance. This is a specialty of the 300B-XLS. This will give a better damping factor of the bass and mid range loudspeakers, resulting in a more natural sound.

Η εταιρία εξειδικεύεται στις τριοδους και κατασκευάζει και κάποια πιο παλιά σχεδια ενω πρόσφατα προσέθεσε στην λιστα και λιγες vintage οδηγητριες (οι οποίες γενικα δεν συμφέρουν γιατι υπάρχουν πολλες NOS και πουλιούνται για λιγότερο => η επένδυση σε αυτες δεν αποδίδει αν δεν μπορουν να παραχθούν με ημιαυτοματοποιημενο τρόπο πολλές οπως στην Κινα)

Απο τις αγαπημένες μου οδηγήτριες αυτες της Tung Sol, σταθερή ποιότητα κατασκευής και προσιτές τιμες. Την ECC83 την εχω στο phono stage και παροτι δεν εχει τον αερα των παλιων Brimar ή το γκαζι των Telefunken παραμένει κορυφαια allround λαμπα με πετυχημένο μιξ κλασσικου/ μοντερνου ηχου. Δεν ειναι πολυ μελο ή μεσαιάτη, δεν ειναι και κλινικά ουδέτερη.

H εταιρεία ανήκει στον γνωστό Mike Mathews (ElectroHarmonix) κατω απο την ομπρελα της New Sensor Corp, στην ιδια ανήκουν και πολλες αλλες γνωστες ιστορικες μαρκες (Mullard, Sovtek, Svetlana..) γιατι ο Mike οταν τις λυχνίες δεν τις κοίταζε κανεις ψώνισε οτι ονομα βρηκε ανεκμετάλλευτο σε τιμη χώμα. Ευτυχώς η ποιότητα της Tung Sol παραμένει πολυ καλη και η gold pin 803S προτείνετε ανεπιφύλακτα.

Διαφορετική ιστορία η KT150, μια πολύ ισχυρη beam tetrode (μια KT66/88 στα αναβολικά με dissipation στα 70W) καθως ναι μεν προσφέρει μεγάλη ισχυ και με 2 λαμπες/ καναλι μπορει ενας σχεδιαστής να βγάλει πανω απο 100W αλλα ταυτόχρονα εχει δεχτει και κριτικες για την γρηγορη φθορα της (απο τον Tim de Paravicini ο οποιος λεει πως στο εργαστήριο του δεν περνάνε τις 500 ωφέλιμες ωρες κατα μεσο ορο)
